The Conservatory of Central Illinois is a not-for-profit organization managed by an Executive Director who is assisted by a part-time administrative assistant and office aid, an orchestra librarian, and a faculty of over twenty teachers. A Board of Directors oversees governance of the school.

The Conservatory is located at 116 North Chestnut Street, Suite 310 in historic downtown Champaign. Since its founding in 1986, The Conservatory has increased its enrollment steadily and now maintains a student registration of over 600. The student population represents citizens from central Illinois, including those from a wide range of ethnic, economic, and social backgrounds as well as music abilities. Students vary in age from infants to senior citizens.

The Conservatory of Central Illinois serves a geographic area of a sixty-mile radius of the Champaign/Urbana community.
